Witness a world premiere by James Sofranko, performed at the second annual Bard Music West Festival: The World of Henry Cowell. Inspired by the composer Henry Cowell's collaborations and discussions with Martha Graham, Sofranko is creating a new dance for Danielle Rowe and Brett Conway to a commissioned score by Eugene Birman, played live by Third Sound. In the intimate setting of a private residence located in downtown San Francisco, artistic director James Sofranko will take you behind the scenes to discuss the role that music plays in creating a dance. On the panel will be Alton San Giovanni, composer of Danielle Rowe's world premiere for Season Three, along with choreographer Danielle Rowe, and pianist Ronny Michael Greenberg, who will discuss and play some of the Schubert Impromptus, which is the music James Sofranko's has chosen for his Season Three world premiere. We welcome and encourage you to be part of the conversation during this Q&A salon. A wine and light bites reception preceeds and follows the program.

Due to the wildfires, "SFDanceworks in Sonoma" will now be held Sunday November 5th (originally Oct 15th).
With a farm to table catered lunch prepared by chef Matt Roberts of BVR Farm, this event has become the talk of Sonoma and is not to be missed! Back by popular demand after last year's highly successful event, a luncheon featuring wood fired pizza will be prepared by Chef Matt Roberts, formerly of San Francisco's Jardiniere, and his wife, Elana Altman Roberts, former San Francisco Ballet soloist. The pair recently founded BVR Farm, a food-focused agritourism retreat bringing people together to share a meal, connect with the land, and meet the producers of their food. After lunch, be treated to a demonstration performance from SFDanceworks artists and hear from founder and artistic director James Sofranko about preparations for Season Two.
